The problem

Three apps know about your leave. None of them talk to each other.

Your HR system has the source of truth. Outlook shows the calendar. Teams shows the green dot. None of them agree, so the team only realises at 9:01 on Monday that the colleague they were waiting on is at the beach.

So you bolt copying onto people. Paste your leave into a Teams channel. Set your own status message. Drop a placeholder on the team calendar. Half the team does it, half don't, and by the third quarter nobody trusts any of it.

Deckchair plugs leave into Teams directly: approval requests arrive as DMs with one-tap buttons, the daily digest posts to the channel your team reads anyway, and @Deckchair next week answers in two seconds.

What you get in Teams

Four touchpoints, all native to Teams.

Approve from a Teams message.

When a request lands, the approver gets a Teams DM showing the dates, balance impact, and any overlapping leave in their team - with Approve and Decline buttons right there. Tap one and the decision is applied instantly, with the same role and department checks the web app uses. No link-out, no portal login.

A morning digest in your team channel.

Pick a team, pick a channel, pick a send time. Deckchair posts a brief summary each morning of who's off and any public holidays. Run a company-wide digest, one per department, or both - and the post is suppressed when nobody's off, so no "no one is away today" filler.

Out of office, automatically.

Opt in once and Deckchair sets your Teams presence to Out of office with 🌴 On leave as the status message the moment your approved leave begins - then clears both when it ends. Cancellations and amendments reschedule automatically; no "sorry, forgot to update my status" follow-ups.

How it works

Four steps, then it just runs.

Step 1

Admin approves for your organisation.

From Deckchair Settings → Integrations, click Add to Teams. Microsoft prompts an admin to approve the permissions - once for your whole organisation.

Step 2

Install the app in Teams.

Upload the Deckchair app package in the Teams admin centre, then add it to the team where you want digest posts. Microsoft requires the bot to be a member of a team before it can post there.

Step 3

Each member connects.

From Preferences, members click Connect Teams (or Connect with status sync for auto-presence). Without this link, no DMs go out - privacy by default.

Step 4

Leave flows through Teams.

Requests, approvals, decisions, cancellations - they all DM the right people. The digest posts on the schedule you set, and @Deckchair is available immediately.

Teams is additive - it doesn't replace email and push. Members who don't connect their account simply keep getting notifications the way they already do.

Give your team a better way to take leave.
