Deckchair
Slack integration

Approve leave from Slack.

Deckchair brings PTO requests, approvals, who's-off digests, and the /deckchair slash command into the channel your team already lives in.

Slack is included on every Deckchair plan.

The problem

Leave approvals shouldn't live in your inbox.

Someone asks for time off in a DM. The manager forgets. A week later it's "did you ever sort that?" - and the wallchart is wrong because nobody pressed approve in the actual leave tool.

Or: it's Wednesday and you need to schedule a meeting on Friday. Who's actually around? You scroll three channels of "OOO 🌴" messages and check three calendars and still aren't sure.

Deckchair fixes the loop: requests land in Slack as DMs with Approve and Decline buttons, a daily digest posts who's off to the channel your team reads anyway, and /deckchair next week gives you the answer in two seconds.

What you get in Slack

Four touchpoints, no extra logins.

Approver DMs with one-click decisions.

When a member books leave, the approver gets a DM with the request, a quick view of any overlapping leave in their team, and Approve / Decline buttons. The decision happens in the DM - no link-out, no portal login. The requester is told the moment their leave is decided, cancelled, or amended.

Approve Decline

/deckchair slash command.

Ask /deckchair next week, /deckchair tomorrow, or /deckchair 13th to 17th feb. Replies are ephemeral, so only you see them - type the command even in a busy channel without spamming everyone.

Off next week (Mar 16 - Mar 22):

  • • Emily Park - Mon, Tue, Wed
  • • Jordan Lee - Wed
  • • Sam Carter - Thu, Fri (half-day Fri)

St Patrick's Day on Mar 17

Daily who's-off digest.

Pick a channel, set a send time, and Deckchair posts a brief summary of who's off that day plus any public holidays you'd like included. Run one company-wide digest, one per department, or both - and the post is suppressed when nobody's off, so no "no one is away today" filler.

How it works

Three steps, then done.

Step 1

Admin installs the bot.

From Deckchair Settings → Integrations, click Add to Slack. Approve the scopes once for the whole workspace.

Step 2

Each member connects.

From Preferences, members click Connect Slack. This is what binds their Slack identity to their Deckchair account so DMs go to the right person.

Step 3

Leave happens in Slack.

Requests, approvals, decisions, cancellations - they all DM the right people. The digest posts on the schedule you set. /deckchair is available immediately.

Slack is additive - it doesn't replace email and push. Members who don't connect their account simply keep getting notifications the way they already do.

Give your team a better way to take leave.
